Blog Post 7 Jackbox Games

Intro

JackBox Games are an incredibly fun and interactive way for friends to gather and play games as opposed to other party games. They have many to choose from and are quite innovative and chaotic, making them incredibly fun for larger gatherings. I will particularly focus on the game Dodo Re Mi.

Mechanics
Dodo Re Mi is a rhythm based game where players match notes in time with each other to feed a monster at the end of the level, otherwise you get eaten instead. It relies on the teamwork of everyone in the game because the more missed notes leads to a more difficult time with beating the level. The most interesting thing about this game is that your device is the controller, so this game supports many players, including up to 10,000 audience members.

Playing with an Audience
The audience can join in the game as well by becoming additional participants in the game, rather than just observing the other players. Audience can join the game on their own devices as well, and can even contribute to the beats in the song. However, they don't contribute to the final version of the song that's fed tot he monster. This makes the game more inclusive to all players rather than just waiting for the next round to start, or competing with others that want to play multiple rounds of the game.
